- Hazard Identification & Common Factors,
- Identification of Ground Disturbance,
- Safe Work Practices when working around underground facility,
- Regulatory requirements and Code of Practice,
- Use of permits, approvals/crossing agreements,
- Pre-planning & Notifications,
- Back Fill Inspections,
- Emergency Response Plans.

- Identifying the correct flagging practices and procedures, equipment and clothing,
- How to communicate with co-workers and the general public,
- The importance of the flag station and the flag persons location,
- How to deal with emergency vehicles
